Food for Thought...
A NOTE FROM COURTNEY DOCTOR AND MELISSA KRUGER

You may have heard the maxim, “Quitters never win and winners never quit.” On the surface it seems like good advice—but is it actually true? Not always. While quitting often carries a negative connotation, sometimes quitting is the wisest and most faithful thing we can do.

Quitting, in and of itself, isn’t good or bad. As the author of Ecclesiastes reminds us, there is a time for everything—including a time to begin and a time to end, a time to say yes and a time to say no.

So how do we know when it’s time for what? When should we quit, keep going, say yes, or say no? In this episode of The Deep Dish, we talk with Jen Wilkin about how to discern these decisions. We hope this conversation helps you wisely evaluate your commitments and navigate the opportunities that come your way.

And before we go—we just want to say that we hope your summer has included a few slower-paced days, a good book or two, plenty of fresh summer fruit, and at least one afternoon poolside!

Much love,

Courtney and Melissa

We’ve loved memorizing Psalm 34 with you! Download these free lockscreens for your phone to keep God’s Word in front of you all day.
Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

“I’m currently studying the Gospel of Mark, reading J.C. Ryles’s Expository Thoughts on the Gospels as I go. His reflections are accessible and devotional, but still offer a depth of teaching that answers my questions and encourages me toward deeper faith and obedience each day. And he has a volume for each of the four gospels!”

“My mom found this cod recipe on Instagram and now my sister and I both have it in our regular rotations too! It is so easy to make but so delicious and nourishing!”

“A fun, quick game my husband and I have been enjoying with the kids is Qwixx. Our kids who enjoy long board games have been loving Arcs—and they consider the Arcs expansion their best gaming experience!”

PRAY FOR THE CHURCH AROUND THE WORLD
Global Dish Image

Last month we asked you to join us in praying for a conference we held in the Czech Republic, a country dominated by atheism. The Lord answered powerfully. More than 100 young adults committed their lives to Christ and his work in the world. Together we knelt and prayed an extended version of Ephesians 3:14–21. The Lord empowers his work through our prayers. Thank you!
