A NOTE FROM COURTNEY

For more than 2,000 years, the gospel has been passed down from generation to generation. Paul describes this pattern when he gives these instructions to Timothy: “What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also” (2 Tim. 2:2). Paul passed the gospel to Timothy who passed it to another generation who passed it to yet another. If we count 25 years as a generation, then you and I are standing roughly 81 generations downstream of Paul of Timothy.  And now it’s our turn to pass the baton to the generations following us.

This week’s episode of The Deep Dish is all about passing the gospel to the littlest among us. Whether you’re a parent or someone who invests in the lives of the children around you, grab some friends, listen to the episode, and talk through the discussion questions. For richer conversation, include women of multiple generations in your discussion. Who knows what wisdom you may glean or share?

MEMORIZING THIS MONTH’S BIBLE VERSE:
"And now my head shall be lifted up
    above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
    sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the Lord."

Lately my kids and I have enjoyed going through the car wash with “Flood” by Jars of Clay at top volume! — Betsy Howard

I kept hearing godly women around me say something like, “As I’ve been reading the Puritans…” so I wanted to incorporate Puritan readings into my routine. At a TGC conference I picked up The Valley of Vision and have used it on and off in my prayer life over the past few years. It’s helped me have words to pray when I have none, and is reshaping what and how I pray.  — Ann Westrate

If you want to get kids (and adults) off screens, try setting up bookshelves in a main living space. We did this recently, and found everyone was more likely to grab a biography or novel if it’s within eyesight. Bonus if the books are close to a lamp and a comfy chair! — Sarah Zylstra

In just a few weeks, TGC will participate in an annual six-day Christian conference held under a circus tent in the Czech Republic, a nation where more than half of adults identify as atheists. At last year’s conference hundreds of Gen-Z youth came forward for prayer and expressed an interest in evangelism and missions. Please pray that this year’s conference will bear much fruit for God’s kingdom.
