Dear Reader,
If you’re like me, you haven’t always been a reader. Even though I was (barely) progressing through my K–12 education, it wasn’t until I came to a saving knowledge of Christ as a teenager that I then experienced an unquenchable desire to know God’s Word—and to pick up any book that explained what this Christian life was all about. This love of the Word, both written and incarnate, bled into a love of words in general. I passed through the wardrobe into Narnia. I strolled the corridors of Hogwarts. I even got enraptured with Left Behind. And now years removed from those early days of my newfound faith, I can see how God’s Word took root in my heart. Christ has kept me—through his Word, with the aid of believers in healthy local churches, and good books that have nourished me along the way.
Whenever someone asks how they can read more, I always encourage them to just read—with discernment—whatever they want.
Reading begets reading begets reading.
Of course, reading is and should never become an end in itself. Like all of God’s good gifts, they can be misused and become idols. But with such rich resources we have today—including physical, electronic, and audiobooks—we have no excuse to not take full advantage. To read for our good, for edification and delight, and to be equipped for serving others.
So take a look at our most recent book reviews below, along with links for the reading life. Let us know what you like or anything you’d like to see in future versions of this newsletter.
Happy reading!

If a culture loses sight of the dignity of work (grounded in the dignity of each individual, which is grounded in the image of God), is it any wonder that they create a “prosperity” that leaves some people without dignity? . . . [Christians] have unique wisdom to offer, sourced in Scripture, that isn’t common sense but is essential to the common good. Read the review.
