TGC | Arts & Culture

At TGC we have a goal to be the best friend to church leaders. We want to write and speak with sympathy for the challenges and joy for the privileges of ministry. When you read TGC articles or listen to our podcasts, we want you to recognize yourself and God’s patient, never-ending love for you. After all, most of our content has been produced by church leaders. And our editors also serve in leadership of local churches. When it comes to pastoral practices and spirituality, we hope TGC is your go-to source.

So as we close out a long and painful 2020, we want you to know how much we appreciate your labors. They are not in vain. The Lord sees, and the Lord loves you more than you can understand or perceive this side of heaven. We don’t know what 2021 has in store, but we can depend on God’s faithfulness, just as we did in 2020. We can rest assured that the gospel goes forth and accomplishes everything that God has intended.

Take heart, church leaders. We hope not in this world but in the God of eternity—the God of unmatched glory and undying love.

“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal” (2 Cor. 4:17–18).

I receive more than enough criticism, so I’m not going out of my way to seek it these days. This article gives me a gospel grid to process the criticism that still comes.

It’s so much easier to rail at a leader than to be one, Dan Doriani explains in this article about the maddening paradox of leadership.

We’ve lost a lot in this year of death, disease, and disappointment. Christmas concerts may be another small loss, but it still stings to lose a tradition that so many of us love. Invite your church to join TGC next Sunday night for this free online Advent concert featuring Keith and Kristyn Getty, Josh Garrels, Sandra McCracken, Shai Linne, and many others.
