Rarely can we see the extent to which God has used our labors for his kingdom.

For 15 years, Willie and Paulette Strickland ministered among Peruvians in the Amazon rainforest—the same general region where Jim Elliot was martyred—with little fruit to show for it.

Or so they thought.

Today, due in large part to their influence, the gospel is gaining ground through the witness of churches like Iglesia Genesis. TGC senior writer Sarah Zylstra recently flew down for the congregation’s 10th-anniversary celebration. Her latest feature story, “Gospel Light in Latin America’s Darkest Region,” is an on-the-ground report of the Holy Spirit’s power to penetrate counterfeit theology and spiritual opposition.

Travel with Zylstra to meet Nelton and Bethany Noriega, David Pereira, and others involved in this vibrant gospel outpost—located downstream from Willie and Paulette’s faithful plodding.
