I’ve been worrying about Gen Z lately. Research tells us they’re less likely to go to church or read the Bible—and more likely to feel anxious and lonely—than previous generations. I know I’m not the only one concerned about the effects technology and increasing secularism have had on them.

Then, last week, I spent time on the campus of Dordt University, helping at the World Journalism Institute. A class of 28 bright Gen Z students asked good questions, practiced reporting, and thought about how to tell the truth in a way that serves people and glorifies God.

It’s easy to worry about a generation you don’t know well. But spending time with the students reminded me of God’s faithfulness to all generations. Listening to them gave me a lot of hope.

If you’re looking for some of that hope, stay tuned. Last week, TGC announced a Gen Z essay contest. We’re asking young adults to write on a variety of topics, from why they love their local church to how the gospel changes everything.

If you’re a Gen Z writer, we’d love to hear from you. If you know one, we’d love for you to let them know about the contest. (Prizes include cash, gift cards, and publication!)

I hope it helps us all get to know Gen Z better, worry about them less, and praise God for his generational faithfulness.
