| Professional editors read. A lot. On any given day I’m likely to read a couple article submissions, parts of several books, many emails, countless Google docs, significant sums of written text online, and so forth. When you read a lot your appreciation of good writing grows, as does your annoyance at bad writing. Written text might seem cheap in the digital age’s information glut. The patient, “years of practice required” art of writing might seem quaint in an AI world where entire books are written by robots in five seconds. But great writing is still a rare and important human skill—and one with tremendous power to break through the noise and touch people with beauty and truth. Great writing matters. More than ever. In a communication-saturated technological world, good communication is what breaks through. That’s why at TGC we’re hosting a new, practical cohort this spring (Wednesdays, February 19 – April 9), designed to help writers of all experience levels grow in their craft. Over eight weekly sessions, participants will receive teaching from experienced writers and editors, workshop assignments to put learning into practice, opportunities to submit article pitches to TGC’s editorial team, and more. If you or someone you know feels called to the ministry of writing (in whatever form), this cohort is for you. Learn more about the content of the cohort, the lineup of teachers, and more at the link below. I hope to see you there! |
