| Yesterday, some members of our TGC staff got the opportunity to sit down with a group of local pastors in Chicago. Near the end of the day, one pastor asked a question that caught my attention: “Could you write more articles on ‘basic and boring’ doctrines like—I don’t know—the person of the Holy Spirit?” Of course, the Holy Spirit isn’t boring, but I know what that pastor meant. In the age of the algorithm, it’s more controversial topics that get likes, shares, and retweets on social media platforms, but if that’s all you read online, you’re choosing candy corn over broccoli. Sugar is fine in moderation. But we need vegetables, too. Here are three sections of the TGC website you may not know about that I believe will help to round out your online diet: Pastors and leaders, check out our long-form essays on various theological topics including this great one by David VanDrunen on how the Spirit is a witness to our Sonship. Bible study and Sunday school teachers, check out our new online Bible commentary series including S. M. Baugh’s treatment of Ephesians where you’ll read about what Paul means when he says the Spirit is a seal of our salvation (Eph. 1:13). Christian sister and brother, browse the topical list of all our site’s content where you’ll find a link to every piece of content we’ve ever published on the Holy Spirit including my article this week about how the Spirit is our place of safety. It’s fine to learn about the issues of the day, but we must also be sure to feed our souls with content that will nourish our faith and help us grow in Christ. Feasting on doctrine, |
