| My husband’s ministry mantra for the past decade has been “faithful in a few things.” He’s the solo pastor of a small church. If he compares our church to one of the megachurches down the road, the list of things we are not doing can feel overwhelming. But if he concentrates on doing what we can to the best of our ability for the glory of God, ministry priorities come into focus. I appreciated Chase Krug’s deep dive into how we should apply Matthew 25 in his recent article “Be Faithful over Little.” Those of us who came of age in the Young, Restless, and Reformed movement have many heroes that did great things for the kingdom. But the older I get, the more I appreciate the lives of ordinary, faithful Christians who, though not famous missionary martyrs, persevered in taking up their cross daily. I hope you will read Krug’s piece and consider what faithfulness looks like in your life. Do you participate weekly in the worship of God with his people? Do you pray for lost loved ones? Do you confess your sins and repent? None of these practices will inspire someone to write your biography, but over a lifetime, these small, regular deposits will yield a plentiful return on investment. |
