Reading Matt McCullough’s superb new book Remember Death: The Surprising Path to Living Hope (Crossway, 2018) has got me thinking about mortality. It’s been oddly encouraging. I was excited, then, to see the topic of the longform article awaiting my edits: aging. I just wasn’t prepared for how helpful it would be.

In “How to Grow Newer When You’re Not Growing Younger,” Abigail Dodds reflects with refreshing honesty on the difficult prospect—or, for many of us, experience—of growing old. But just because you’re growing older, she explains, doesn’t mean you can’t be growing newer. Rather than pining after the good old days, we can long for what awaits. In Christ, the best is always yet to come.
