| A few weeks into 2022, many of us have already failed to live up to our resolutions. Don’t be dismayed. The good impulse we feel in a near year to audit our habits—and make better decisions with how we spend our time—doesn’t hinge on our success or failure at one particular goal. Rather, it’s a posture that should lead us to constantly think through how to use our time in spiritually edifying ways. Spiritual health is both about what you take in—you are what you eat—and what you produce. Your intakes and activities shape you. In short, how you spend your time shapes your soul. But the habit-shaping power of time doesn’t have to intimidate! As my colleagues Sarah Zylstra and Megan Hill point out in their new article, it can be as easy as a 30-second activity here, a 1-minute habit there, or a 15-minute routine you practice once a week. Take a look at their list of creative suggestions for spiritual enrichment, and see what you might implement the next time you have a few minutes of open time. Like money, we can invest our minutes in things that offer momentary pleasure or lasting—even eternal—value. In 2022, let’s invest our time in the latter. |
