Benny Hinn’s nephew knows a thing or two about the prosperity gospel movement. In his new book, God, Greed and the (Prosperity) Gospel (Zondervan), Costi Hinn exposes the inner workings of the Hinn empire and the prosperity gospel that undergirds it. He talks about how the Lord saved him from this “dangerously abusive theology” and offers a way forward to reach those caught in deception.

In his debut article for The Gospel Coalition (“God, Thank You I’m Not Like Those Prosperity Preachers”), Hinn urges us to beware either of constant attack or total apathy. The path forward, he argues, is one of “grace to resist dwelling on the endless stream of blasphemy—and having the guts to call it out when the opportunity arises.” However the prosperity gospel intersects with your life—and we should all beware the allure of a functional prosperity gospel—we must be those who live on mission, proclaiming truth, rejecting error, and praying for the lost.
