| I’m sure you’re like me. When I have a question about home repair or business hours or movie reviews, I turn to my trusty old friend Google. I do the same for many biblical and theological questions. (Just don’t tell my seminary professors whose beautiful books line my office shelves.) But what if I couldn’t find any results for my theological questions in any language I could understand? Or I could find answers, but only from the Mormons or Jehovah’s Witnesses? As you can see, the internet is a blessing and a curse. You may find what you need—and a whole bunch you didn’t. At The Gospel Coalition, we want every tribe, tongue, and nation to find biblical answers to their spiritual questions, in their own languages. That’s why last year we translated 1,000 answers to the most commonly searched questions in 12 different languages, thanks to your help. We’re currently translating our theological essays and biblical commentaries for digital, global distribution. While translation is beneficial, we’re progressing toward the ultimate goal of publishing Christian leaders who live and work in the same local contexts their resources will reach. Around the world, 18 regional coalitions and language sites connected to The Gospel Coalition strengthen their local churches. Each site assembles skilled editors who commission trusted authors and translators to generate gospel-centered resources in many of the most widespread languages. I get to speak to many of these international leaders over Zoom. And this fall I’m headed back to Amsterdam to support our leaders with TGC Netherlands/Flanders. They’re doing vital work for the kingdom, and they need support from believers like you. |
