| What feeling comes to mind when you think of sharing the gospel? Is it excitement? Fear? Outright dread? Honestly, I’ve found all sorts of reasons to avoid talking to people about Jesus. I’ve had thoughts like, I don’t really know her that well. I’ll wait until our relationship is deeper. Or, If I talk to her about God, I’m sure she’ll avoid me at work. And even, She wouldn’t be interested in Jesus—she’s in a same-sex relationship. I’d like to attribute my hesitation to concern for the other person, but the bottom line is that I just don’t want to endure the awkwardness a gospel conversation might bring to a relationship. Before Jesus ascended to heaven he told his followers, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,” (Matt. 28:19). We might think this is only the job of pastors and missionaries, but all Christians are to share the gospel (Mark 16:15, John 20:21, Acts 1:8). Through evangelism, God uses us to draw others to himself while stirring up our affection and gratitude for the glorious salvation we have in Christ. Evangelism is challenging for many Christians. That’s why I’m excited about TGC’s newest cohort for women, Sharing the Gospel in Everyday Life. In this six-week virtual cohort that runs from October 3rd through November 14th, we’ll explore practical ways to make sharing the gospel a natural part of daily life. Registration is open but will close on September 18th, so sign up today! Jesus knew his people would face many challenges on their mission to evangelize the world, so he left us with this promise: “Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20). Join us this fall as we pursue the joy and obedience of introducing others to the Savior. |
