| I vividly remember reading Romans 8 on a friend’s living room floor when I experienced it—joy! I was captivated by the Word of God in a way that took me by surprise. This, I thought, this is good news. This is what it’s all about! Perhaps you’ve experienced one of those moments—when the Holy Spirit opens your eyes to something astonishing that wells up in your soul like a spring that simply must overflow. Those experiences are a gift. But for each extraordinary moment, there are many more seemingly ordinary ones. When quiet time feels boring, when Bible stories are confusing, when the words seem stale. Thankfully, joy doesn’t just live in the “aha!” moments or the memorable heart swells. Joy abides in ordinary moments of ordinary days. Joy inhabits our prayers of lament and groanings of grief. Joy dwells in the souls of believers because the Spirit of joy makes his home there. What is this enduring joy? It’s the joy of our salvation. The joy of knowing—really knowing—that our faithful God rescues us, forgives us, and works every moment for our ultimate good, from the mundane to the monumental. This June, we’re gathering for TGCW22, Remember Your Joy: Salvation Stories in the Old Testament. We’ll explore our salvation in Christ and the joy that flows from it. This article from Winfree Brisley explains our heart behind the conference and provides all the information you need about registration, speakers, and other FAQs. Join us as we remember our joy together! |
