Lee Irons recently did a series of blog posts reviewing Seyoon Kim’s new book, Christ and Caesar: The Gospel and the Roman Empire in the Writings of Paul and Luke. Here are the posts:
- Introduction
- Part 1: The Epistles of Paul (pp. 1-71)
- Part 2: The Writings of Luke (pp. 73-190)
- “Some Implications for Today” (pp. 200-3)
Irons agrees with Kim’s exegetical critique of the trend in NT scholarship that read’s Paul gospel as a critique of the Roman Empire and its agenda, but has doubts regarding Kim’s take on the implications for today.
