Therefore he (Jesus) is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.Heb. 7:25 (NIV)
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groaning’s too deep for words.Rom. 8:26 (ESV)
My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend.Job 16:20-21(NIV)
Mighty and merciful God, as I meditate on the multiple ways you love and care for your children, few things create a deeper sigh of relief, sense of peace, and smile of joy than knowing the whole Trinity is praying for us—including me.
Father, nothing or no one can sabotage your sovereignty, warp your will, or divert your decrees for your children, and for your world. You’re not waiting for us to inform or motivate you to action. We don’t have to get your attention, make a case, or convince you of anything. We don’t have to gussy up, buck up, or ramp up our spirituality when we come before you; but as children with a loving Father, and real people with real tears, we come.
And Lord Jesus, because you ever live to pray for us, we abandon ourselves to your faithfulness, wisdom, and tenacity. Certainly, everything you pray for will come to pass. Your advocacy is our assurance; your intercession is our liberation; your prayers are our peace.
And Holy Spirit, thank you for so faithfully praying inside of us—especially in those moments, and seasons, when we don’t know what to pray, or when we have little desire to pray. As we cry out to God with words of desperation, or in the silence of our confusion, thank you for praying for us what we’d pray for ourselves, if we knew what you know. For so great a salvation, we praise, bless, and adore you, O gracious God. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ tender and triumphant name.
