He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true” (Rev.21:5). “Behold, I am coming soon!” (Rev.22:12). Nothing can separate you from my love (Rom.8:38-39), snatch you from my hand (Jn.10:28), or deter, alter, or keep my will from being done in your life and accomplished my world (Isa.46:10).

Dear Jesus, there’s nothing gigantic going right now April 7, 2025 but I’m starting today feeling a bit “deer-in-the-headlights”-ish, “blah-ish,” and “meh-ish.” Perhaps it’s a combo of erratic sleep, the weight of a few heart-burdens, changes afoot in my orbit, the 15ft rise of the Harpeth River in my neighborhood, the big drop of the financial markets, feeling my country is isolating from its friends and making more enemies, wishing I was more like you than I already am—okay, there IS a lot going on.

Thank you for never shaming us when we feel vulnerable, afraid, or disgusted. Thank you for understanding when we feel “less than conquerors” and more like spiritual weenies. Thank you for remaining kind to us when our humanity is more on display than our Jesus-like-ness. You indeed, are a most wonderful, merciful Savior.

Jesus, thank you for always bringing us back to your Word, to Gospel-sanity, to hope—to yourself. You are absolutely in control of all things everywhere all the time, and you absolutely love us with an everlasting, unwavering, incomparable love. That’s absolutely all we need this week, and we have all of it 100%. Hallelujah, and absolutely So Very Amen.
