“I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands”… crying out with a loud voice, “’Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’” Rev. 7:9-10
Lord Jesus, multiple times a day, something will capture our attention, ignite our senses, and elicit a response. It may be a memory-connecting favorite song, the aroma of bread, cookies, or pizza cooking, the eyes of a compassionate friend, or the feel of a tightline between our fly reel and a big trout. But there is one all-senses-seizing reality that we ask you to import into every day of our lives—John’s compelling vision recorded for us in our Scripture of the day.
Your impossible-to-count, every-nation Bride gathered in joyful worship before you. We will finally adore you as you deserve, and love each other as you love us. Jesus, this is the Day we crave more than any other. This is the true meaning and mercy-measure of all history. Saved by grace, healed 100%, and united for eternity.
Everything sad will become “untrue” and everything promised will be fulfilled. All things will be new and beautiful, and not one thing will be broken or breakable. Every evidence of evil, sin, and death will be gone. Laughter will never be louder and hurry will cease to exist. Relationships and everything will be perfect forever. Jesus, as surely as John heard, saw, and was “seized” by this coming Day, so do the same in us. Ignite, joy-fill, and liberate for mission even us septuagenarians (70+ year-olds). So Very Amen.
