When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. Ps. 94:19

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Rev. 22:13

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isa. 26:3

Heavenly Father, it’s a great week to shift our focus from the immediacy of things we can’t control, to the permanency of who you are. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End—and everything we need in between. You say, “Trust me, I’ve got it,” about everything.

Worry never works out well; and fear always fails us. As the Psalmist said, “When the cares of our hearts are many, your consolations cheer our soul.” Console away, loving Father. Fixing our thoughts on you—as opposed to fixating on everything else, is where we find peace, perspective, and more peace.

The culmination of the “good work” you’ve begun in history, us, and creation is going to “blow the doors off” whatever we thought “beyond all we can ask or imagine” can possibly mean (Eph. 3:20-21).

So as this week begins, we take a deep Gospel-breath, and choose adoring Jesus over vexing in circumstances; waiting upon you, rather than trusting in “horses and chariots”; listening to the Spirit through your Word, more than FOX and CNN. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ wonderful and merciful name.
