“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.” Rom. 16:20
Heavenly Father, among your many names “God of Peace” is one of our favorites, and most needed. Through Jesus’ finished work, you are now at peace with us, and we have peace with you. Your peace now guards our hearts 24/7; and as we surrender to it, it rules in them (Phil 4:7, Col. 3:15). Hallelujah, and thank you. But there’s another “peace”—a glorious shalom for which we long, wait, and pant.
The one year “anniversary” of the war in the Ukraine makes the hope of peace on earth our passionate yearning and insatiable craving. In the verse we’re ponding and praying today, Paul envisioned the Day when everywhere we plant our feet, it will be evil-empty, Satan-void, and God-glory-filled. Hallelujah!
Your promise that this will happen “soon” didn’t come with the specific month, year, or decade revealed. But it did come with your joyful, unbreakable guarantee (Eph.1:13-14, 2 Cor.1:22). Until that magnificent Day, you give us the grace of Jesus as our heart-feast, hope-fuel, and peace-fertilizer. Thank you.
Father, we pray “soon” will be “sooner” than we can imagine. Jesus’ crushed Satan’s head, and we look forward to dancing everywhere we plant our feet in the new heaven and new earth (2 Pet. 3:13, Hab. 2:14, Isa. 11:9, Rom. 8:21, Ps. 150:4). So Very, Very, VERY Amen.
