And this is the plan: At the right time, he (God) will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. Eph. 1:10 (NLT)
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Col. 3:1-2 (NIV)
Heavenly Father, I woke up today feeling scattered, unfocused, and pulled in many directions. There’s nothing troubling in my spirit, major on the horizon, or lurking from the past. I just need to settle and center my heart. I want to live today in light of the great Day when everything will be summed up and united in Jesus.
What a blessed Day that will be. No more divided self, but a united heart; no more discord in anything, but the unity of all things; no more meanness anywhere, just the kindness of your kingdom everywhere; no more rushing about, just the hush of perfected hearts; no more schedules to keep, but a Triune God to love with everything we have and are. Hasten that blessed Day.
So right now, Father, I choose to set my affection and thinking on Jesus—the author and perfecter of our faith; the Lamb of God and Lord of all things; our Advocate in heaven and Shepherd on this earth. The more I center on Jesus, the more I’ll live at peace in a world and day of distractions.
Indeed, Father, you tell us to cast all our cares on you. Lord Jesus, you have commanded us to bring our weary-selves and heavy-laden-ness to you. Holy Spirit, you are committed to witnessing to our adoption and beloved-ness, all day long. O blessed Triune God, I praise you for the sufficiency of grace you’ll supply us this very day. Thank you, thank you, thank you. So very Amen I pray, in Jesus’ loving and powerful name.
