Surely the righteous will never be shaken… They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Their hearts are secure; they will have no fear. Psalm 112:6-8

Heavenly Father, to start with, we are SO thankful you’ve declared righteous in Christ. That’s the only reason the phrase, “the righteous will never be shaken” doesn’t shake us up! It’s not our goodness, but Jesus’ greatness, that makes us yours and this hope ours.

Now make us less shakable when there’s “a whole lot of shaking going on”—which has pretty well defined 2020. We’d love to have steadfast–hearts in our circumstance-stressing world. Free us to trust you more and fret less. By the same Gospel you justified us, please “stabilize” us.

We’re not asking to be oblivious to things that should concern us. Just make us less knee-jerk fearful, and more accepting that you’ve “got this one” and everything else well in hand.

Help us accept bad news, not with a shrug of our shoulders, but with a bend in our knees. Thank you that Romans 8:28 is always applicable. When we don’t have answers or control, we always have the privilege of asking, “Father, what good are you going to bring out of this very situation?” Thank you. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ wonderful and merciful name.
