The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans… The Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Rom. 8:26–27

Heavenly Father, just like Jesus is no mere “co-pilot”—but the entire plane, sky, and destination; so your Spirit is much more than our mere “prayer partner.” He knows you and us perfectly; is the power that raised Jesus from the dead, and the power that is making us like Jesus. Enough said, except for Hallelujah!

We gladly own our weakness this morning, loving Father; along with our ignorance of knowing exactly what to pray. But the pressure is off, for the Gospel calls us to think of ourselves less as prayer-warriors, and more as prayer-needers. So hear our “wordless groans.” We gladly surrender to the intercession of your Spirit.

No one knows our hearts better than you, Father, and no one loves us more. You search our hearts to save us, not shame us; to deliver us, not demean us; to change us, not chide us. You know our dignity and depravity, our fears and foolishness; our struggles with sin, and our standing in Christ. Again, Hallelujah!

We are grateful, that at this (and every) moment, your Spirit is praying inside us—perfectly tuned in to our needs, and in total harmony with your will. It’s our great peace, joy, and hope. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ awesome name.
