Gratitude for Our Oases, Springs, Models, and Tellers of the Riches of Christ

“I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace… This grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ…” Eph. 3:7-8

Heavenly Father, today we want to thank you for the servants of the Gospel you’ve placed in our lives—those who share the “boundless riches of Christ” with us. Many of them serve us through pulpits, podcasts, and the printed page.

We’re especially grateful for those who don’t just tell us the Gospel is true, but who also show us it is good, beautiful, and precious to them. Thank you for those who take the extra time and heart to make complex theology and doctrines clear to us.

Others share grace-riches with us in less obvious, but vital ways. Father, thank you for those whose eye contact, listening, and kindness “preach” the Gospel to us. How they love us brings meaning to what we’ve already been taught about Jesus and your grace.

Thank you for those who have mercy-antenna and Spirit-sensitivity. They always seem to know when to call us, when to pursue us, when to push in without being pushy—when to weep over us and when to dance with us. Their gift of encouragement is life-giving.

And thank you for those who love to pray with us and for us, for they are a critical means of your grace in our lives. One of the great mysteries this side of heaven is how you use our feeble, childlike prayers to reveal your perfect, absolute sovereignty over all thing, in all places, all the time. For these and many other Gospel-servants, we give you thanks, Father. So Very Amen.
