Jesus Has It All: Keys, Doors, Destination, and the Journey

“These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David (and the keys of death). What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.” (Rev.3:7-8)

Lord Jesus, in a season of history and life that feels fragile, volatile, vulnerable, and uncertain—here you come through your Word and Spirit, giving us exactly what we need: 1. Reminders of who you are. 2. The assurance that we are seen and known. 3. And hope, hope, and more hope. Hallelujah, and thank you.

That you are holy and true means you are absolutely perfect and trustworthy, Jesus. You never exaggerate and you always deliver. That you hold every necessary key, and open and shut any and every door is encouragement on Gospel-steroids.

You don’t only hold the “key of David,” you are the greater David—the promised King we all long for. But you also hold “the key of death and the grave” (Rev.1:18)—for you died on the cross to kill death, and rose to empty the grave of its fear and its victory. We do not have to be, live, or die afraid, period.

You’re also the quintessential “Door Man”—what you open no one can shut, and what you shut no one can open. This gives us profound, timely, living, joyful hope. You have permanently opened a door for the Gospel to run to the nations, and fill the earth with your glory one Day. In fact, you yourself ARE the “Door” to eternal life (Jn.10:7-9)—the “way, truth, and life” all the way Home.

Lastly, you have opened the door for us (Rev.4:1-3), through which we see you joyfully enthroned, sovereignly engaged, ready to return for us at precisely the right, glorious moment. As scary as the world is right now, you are 10,000 times more so in charge of all keys, doors, our destination, and the journey there. Hallelujah, and So VERY Amen!!!
