“When they [the Magi] saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy”. Matt. 2:10
Lord Jesus, it makes no difference if they were kings, astrologers, or magicians, or if there were 3, 5, or 7 of them. The Magi came to you because you are an irresistible grace-magnet—the Savior who seeks and finds, draws and delivers, rescues and redeems. Thank you for being the “author and perfecter” of our faith (Heb. 12:2).
Come Herod or high water, your every-nation Bride will gather at the wedding feast of the Lamb (Rev.19:7-10). By the ordinary means of grace, and the extraordinary orderings of heaven—you are saving a people so numerous they cannot be counted. Our forever-family will be as numerous as the stars, sand, and dust (Rev. 7:9-10; Heb. 11:12; Gen. 13:16). This is the meaning of history—planned in eternity, secured by your work, surely to be finished. Forgive us for thinking otherwise.
In a world that feels very random, fragile, and scary, you are ruler of the kings of the earth and redeemer of all things broken. We can trust you… for our children, health, and future—the things we most regret, most fear, and most desire. Jesus, you are mightier to save than we are awesome at failing and needing. Until you return, free us to be as joyful and generous as the Magi—with our treasures and weakness, and your mercy and grace. So Very Amen.
