“I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” Jeremiah 31:25
Lord Jesus, I hesitated in choosing this passage for today’s prayer—not wanting to sound the alarm, or exaggerate what I’m feeling. “Weary” and “faint” … those have been my traveling companions before. But this feels more like listlessness, the “blahs,” and a backlog of simply being human.
In either case, thank you for promise of refreshment. Sometimes the godliest thing we can do isn’t to read the Bible for two hours, but to take a two-hour nap. Sometimes we’re not spiritually dehydrated, we’re H2O depleted. Our body craves water, we often settle for liquid-caffeine.
Pride isn’t keeping me from exploring heart-issues that might be showing up as body-symptoms. That’s your domain, and I’ll wait upon you to show me anything “below the water line” of my emotions. Fortunately, I don’t have any big “sad” or “mad” going on right now. That could change, but it’s not my present state.
So, Lord Jesus, however you choose to bring refreshment to me and my friends today, we are grateful and expectant. We don’t have to over-think these moments, or get sucked into the “paralysis of analysis.” Our best move is simply come to you in honesty, weakness, expectancy. Thank you. So Very Amen.
