So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Cor. 10:31

Heavenly Father, this is the October 15th, 2018 you have made, and we want to rejoice and be glad in it. There’s a lot going on in our world, in our American culture, and in our hearts. And in all of it—in all of the raptures and ruptures of today, in the complex things and in the simple things, in the things that cause us to say “Awesome!” and the things that cause us to say, “Not again!”, we want to honor you.

In our oldest wounds and our newest wins, in the vocations we love and the jobs we hate, in wonderful health and in painful diagnoses, in the parts of our families we celebrate, and in the stories that cause us heartache, we want to rejoice in you and trust you.

In every last story and scenario, incident and episode, predicament and peccadillo, we want to do everything for your glory—not as performers looking for rewards, but as children enjoying your delight. You’ll never love us more, and you’ll never love us less. Whatever else situations we might be “in,” we’re more “in Christ” than in anything else.

So, we want to think to your glory, feel to your glory, and choose to your glory. We want to react and respond to your glory, engage and do conflict to your glory, see and speak to your glory.

Therefore, we set our gaze on Jesus, take our thoughts captive to Jesus, and surrender our hearts to Jesus. May Jesus be the most unavoidable, irresistible, defining reality in our lives today. By your Holy Spirit, empower us to do all things in October Monday, Father. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ tender and triumphant name.
