Jesus’ “government and its peace will never end” (Isa. 9:7). “The LORD will mediate between nations and will settle international disputes. They will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer fight against nation, nor train for war anymore” (Isa 2:4).
Lord Jesus, it’s “Memorial Day” in the US—a day for honoring the men and women died in service to our country. It automatically makes me (us) grateful for the price you paid to end all wars and fill the earth with your glory. Hallelujah, and thank you.
The War in Ukraine, violence throughout our world, even “biting and devouring” among your people, make us SO ready when “nothing will hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain (Isa. 11:9)—the Day when all swords and spears, tanks and AR-15’s, stealth bombers and nuclear submarines will become shovels, tillers, and produce delivery trucks—for the blessing of neighbors. Nations won’t invade and “annex” each other; but will celebrate, love, and serve one another as one big, redeemed family—your beloved Bride.
Our “forever-curriculum” won’t be war-learning but love-learning. All malevolence, meanness, and madness will be un-remembered history, never to be repeated. Not one expression of “anger, rage, malice” (Col. 3:8) will survive your coming. Every mercy-void thought, anti-grace word, and love-less act will be forever gone.
Please come back soon, Lord Jesus. Until you do, fill our lives with bold kindness and compassionate courage, and renewed, re-fired love for you, and each other. So Very Amen.
