“No matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ… (God) put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” 2 Cor 1:20-22
Heavenly Father, thank you, thank you, thank you. May we never forget and may we more fully believe. May we faithfully live out the wondrous implications of these two bold affirmations. Jesus is your “Yes!”, and the Spirit is the guarantee, of everything you have promised in your Word. Hallelujah!
This doesn’t make life easy, but it sure makes it awesome. Your faithfulness and generosity are hope-igniting, fear-sabotaging, and mission-fueling. You are the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and End, and everything in between. Every nanosecond of history is the unfolding of your faithfulness and generosity.
What are some of your promises we relish on the October Sunday? You have promised to redeem a family for yourself, and Bride for Jesus, from every people group, nation, and language. You have promised to eradicate all evil and usher in the new heaven and new earth at Jesus’ return.
You have promised to finish making all things new through Jesus. You have promised to complete your good work in us—transforming us into Jesus’ likeness. You have promised that Jesus IS already enough—our “righteousness, holiness, and redemption” (1 Cor. 1:30). You have promised you love us, and will keep us—by and for Jesus (Jude 1). We are undone, redeemed, and so grateful. A HUGE Amen, in Jesus’ name.
