“The Lord longs to be gracious to you…” Isa. 30:17
Heavenly Father, what a fabulous and timely way to begin this Monday—pondering your longing to be gracious to us. Whatever burdens we are carrying into the work week, you promise to carry us, and catch every care we cast in your direction.
What a compassionate and kind Father you are. We’ll never shock you with our weakness, offend you with our brokenness, or disappoint you with our weariness. Thank you, Father, and forgive us for thinking otherwise of you.
As this week begins, some of us recently stood graveside of a friend, and our hearts feel the finality and void of death. Others are caring for aging loved ones who don’t love back very well—a difficult calling, indeed.
Some of us are battling infections in our bodies, or ringing in our ears (me), transitions we didn’t see coming, or bills we knew are in route. We look to you, Father, and your commitment to be gracious to us. And as your grace comes freely to us, may it flow just as freely through us to others.
In whatever manner “manna from heaven” falls, sufficient grace is given, or supernatural intervention occurs—we are so grateful to be your beloved daughters and sons. Indeed, In this short-fused, mean-spirited cancel-culture of ours—the only things you’ve canceled about us are the demands of the Law that stood against us, and the weight of our guilt that hung over us. In Jesus’ name, we offer our Hallelujah and Amen.
