(Jesus) said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Wasn’t it necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:25-27
Lord Jesus, on this Monday after Easter Sunday 2022, you have never been more alive, at work, and worthy of our worship. Like those on the Emmaus Road soon after your resurrection, we too are hampered by “slow-heartedness,” chronic under-believing the Gospel, and grace-dementia. For the rest of 2022 and beyond, keep revealing more of yourself to us from the Scriptures. You are all we really need because you are…
Our righteousness, holiness, and redemption (1 Cor. 1:30)
The dynamic “Yes!” to every promise God made (2 Cor. 1:20)
You make all wars cease (Ps. 46:9), and all things new (Rev. 21:5)
Our Creator—destined for supremacy in everything (Col. 1:15-20)
Our great High Priest—ever-praying/advocating for us (Heb. 4:14-16)
Our returning Bridegroom, who knows and loves us perfectly (Isa. 62:5)
Our sovereign and reigning King, the greater and eternal David (Rev. 1:4b-6)
Jesus, we will fully “get” and comprehend your glory when… well, never. Even when our “slow hearts” become perfected hearts, there will always be more of you to know, love, and worship. So very Amen, indeed.
