Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

In an hour I will be on I-40 heading towards Burlington, NC to pick up dad and bring him to his new “home” on Friday. He has no clue about this new journey, and I’m pretty clueless about what to expect too! Will I get everything done in Burlington in the next two days that really needs to happen before we leave? What will he be thinking during the 8 hour drive back? What kinds of cool conversations might we have en route? What will his first night be like in his new surroundings? What will his most difficult adjustments be? Will he feel abandoned? Will he wish he had been here all along? Is it really going “to work?” How might God utterly blow the circuit board of my unbelief and write stories of redemption so big and so sweet I will dance like King David? I just don’t know, but what I do know is this…

God promises a peace that passes all understanding, a peace that will guard my heart and my mind with greater reliability and effect that all the armies in the world. I don’t have to be anxious about any of these things, and in all of these things God is not going to be irritated with my weakness, questions, and cries for help. As the Prince of Peace, Jesus has secured all of this and much, much more! So what journey are you on right now in which such a Prince and such a peace would be most welcome companions? Let’s travel with and trust Jesus together!
