Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,

having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. Col. 2:6-7

(As you pray/read my prayer of gratitude today, make your own thanks-list, and express thanksgiving to our Father.)

Heavenly Father, considering the opulent riches you’ve given us in Jesus, and the many good things you give us as a loving Father, “overflowing with gratitude” shouldn’t be that difficult. Here’s where I start today—no ordinary day on my yearly calendar.

On March 7th, 1968, you raised me from spiritual death, forgave all my sins, declared me righteous in Christ, forgave all my sins, placed your Spirit inside me, and hid my life in Jesus. Nothing will separate me from your love or keep me out of heaven.

Jesus is always praying for me and the Holy Spirit is declaring my belovedness. Why would I ever whine and pine about anything? But there’s more.

Thank you for clothing and a home, a comfortable bed and plenty of food. May I never assume the right to such things, or think I have them simply because I worked for them.

Thank you for my loving family and generous friends; fishing in so many places, and College Basketball in the month of March. Thank you for a “Gospel posse” with which to share life, grow in grace, and encourage each other daily.

Thank you for the taste/texture of flourless chocolate cake, and the smell of bread baking. Hallelujah for three grandsons and one granddaughter on the way; the music of the 60’s and our coming life in the new heaven and new earth.

Indeed, Father, thank you that one Day you’ll put everything right, make all things new, and wipe every tear. You are totally awesome and generous. So very Amen I pray, in Jesus’ tender and triumphant name.
