“The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—(Jesus) has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!“ Luke 2:11

Lord Jesus, when you took your first breath—Mary marveled, a heavenly host appeared, and shepherds scurried. Herod plotted, Maji traveled, and history was divided between BC and AD. As for us, we are filled with wonder, love, and praise—for as the angel declared, you are our perfect Savior, the promised Messiah, and Lord of all lords.

As our Savior—you are “our righteousness, holiness, and redemption” (1 Cor.1:30). God’s favor now permanently rests upon us, we are his beloved children, and nothing can separate us from his love.

As the Messiah—you are the guarantee that every promise God made will be fulfilled (2Cor.1:20) Even we Presbyterians, Anglicans, and non-emotive types shout, “Amen and Hallelujah!” Everything evil, sinful, and broken has an expiration date. Everything beautiful, good, and true has an arrival date. “Beyond all we can ask or imagine” will arrive in full at your return.

As Lord of lords—right now, December 25, 2023, Jesus you are sovereign over history, hardships, and heartaches—all of them. You are “ruler of the kings of the earth” and of everything else. Demons tremble (James 2:19), creation is groaning (Rom.8:22), death is defeated (Heb.2:14), heaven is in awe (Rev.4-5), and we are yours (Col.3:3) We offer up another robust, “Amen and Hallelujah!”

We may not be in the “merriest” season of life, story, or circumstances, but with “in Christ” as our permanent address and “Christ in us” as our present reality, Jesus, our joy is great, our peace is deep, and our hope is overflowing. Thank you for coming to us, and for us. So Very Amen.
