“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever.” Psalm 89:1

Lord Jesus, I have no clue who Ethan the Ezrahite was—the author of the Psalm, but I love words, worship, and wonder-filled heart. Ethan loved your love, Jesus, and so do we. So, just “how wide and long and high and deep is your love” (Eph.3:19-19)?

It’s so wide it embraces everything about us. We’ll never shock you with anything we think, say, or do. It’s why you gave us your righteousness, Jesus—not a second chance, clean slate, and hug for encouragement.

And what tape measure can capture the length of your love for us? In one sense, it never had a beginning, because you loved us before the world began (Eph.1:4)—as mind-boggling as that is. And your love for us will never end, or even vacillate … hallelujah, about 1000 times over.

As to your love’s height—it’s source is in heaven itself, so exquisite and extravagant you tell us you love us as much as the Father loves you (Jn.17:23). Jesus, by your Holy Spirit, take that from our heads to our hearts into every sphere of our lives. Wow… just Wow.

And the depth of your love for us Jesus—a ocean is too mono-dimensional of an image. Because your love isn’t just bottomless, it has depths of texture, flavor, nuance, story, and thought beyond our imagining. Jesus, I usually have words for everything and when I don’t have one, I create one. But I am left nearly wordless this morning as I ponder your love. All I’ve got left is thank you, Jesus, thank you. So Very Amen.
