“The gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace” Col.1:6
Heavenly Father, the Gospel is a waterfall of everlasting grace, an artesian spring of life in the valley of death, a lush garden of eternal nutrients for a starving world—and for our own hungry hearts.
Before the creation of time, you loved us and choose us for yourself. In the fullness of time, you sent Jesus to be our Redeemer and righteousness. At just the right time, you revealed the depth of our need and raised us to newness of life. Abba, we praise and adore you, for so great a salvation and so glorious a Savior.
We humble ourselves before you today in fresh gratitude, and a deep longing to become more like Jesus. Forgive us for being quicker to worry than to worship, better at remembering people’s failures than giving them your grace, and more likely to talk about how bad the world is than how sovereign and faithful you are.
Enable us to see Jesus’ beauty more clearly than anything else our eyes might land on. Free us to be spontaneously kind and fun, and less rigid and controlling. Change our default mode of taking things too personally to taking the Gospel more seriously. We want to laugh louder and seethe less, serve joyfully and encourage excessively … all the way Home. So Very Amen.
