You are mine

Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you… Isaiah 43:1-2

Can you imagine your heavenly Father leaning over you, making contact with the eyes of your heart and saying these words to you, with a tenderness that makes you feel safe and with a strength that melts your fears? We have been bought with the priceless price of Jesus’ life. We have been singled out and called by name, not herded like nameless cattle. God says to you today in the gospel, “You are mine! You don’t belong anymore to aloneness, darkness, shame, guilt, failure.”

He doesn’t promise us we won’t pass through waters and rivers of difficulty and distress. But he does promise that we will never experience a loss, betrayal, attack, rejection, reversal, storm or death alone. Abba, Father is with us and so very for us. That’s why “Fear not!” is one command we should obey today with all the strength the gospel gives us.
