Last week, Brandon Smith and I launched the Word Matters podcast, in which we discuss controversial and contested passages of Scripture. This week’s episode featured Barnabas Piper on the subject of doubt in the Christian life. You can subscribe to the podcast here: iTunes | Android | RSS

Kindle Deal: Church History in Plain Language by Bruce Shelley. $2.99.

Seven of the best articles I came across this week:

1. Adam MacLeod – The Right to Be Differently Excellent: Why Christian Colleges Should Be Allowed To Be Christian. Colleges and universities have the right to exclude religious groups. Colleges and universities should also have the right to be distinctively religious.

2. Lecrae’s Story is Our Story – No matter our culture, when Christ calls us to himself, we’ll feel the tension of being outsiders and must come to terms with what faithfulness looks like in our own lives.

3. Ana Swanson in The Washington Post – The Real Reasons You Procrastinate, and How to Stop. Don’t wait until tomorrow to read this.

4. Carl Trueman – The Rise of the Anti-Culture. Trueman isn’t far from agreeing with Rod Dreher on the Benedict option. “Engaging the culture” is impossible, he says, when only “anti-culture” remains (in the description from philosopher Philip Rieff).

5. Courtney Reissig – Don’t Call Me the Best Mom Ever. Good thought for Mother’s Day weekend.

6. Michael Kelley – 5 Prayers to Pray on the Way to Work. Toward a redeemed view of work.

7. Timothy Tennent – The Deeper Issue Facing the United Methodist General Conference. If John Wesley could say something today to the United Methodists, I imagine it would sound something like this.
