Kindle Deal: The $1.99 sale for my “theology in fiction” book Clear Winter Nights is almost over.

Seven of the best articles I came across this week:

1. It’s the time for annual book lists and awards. Here are Christianity Today‘s books of the year, as well as TGC’s.

2. Timothy George – Reversed Thunder: A Tribute to Thomas Oden. If you’re going to read just one tribute in honor of the recently deceased Methodist theologian, make it this one. A great overview of this scholar’s life and legacy.

3. Karen Ellis – Raise Up a Transcendent Voice in a Partisan World. This will be increasingly difficult to do, and all the more necessary that we do it.

4. Robert Wright – Can Evolution Have a Higher Purpose? Fascinating to watch a naturalist grapple with the question of meaning and significance.

5. Katie McCoy – We Can’t Be Pro-life If We’re Not Anti-Poverty. The stats in this article should widen our perspective to see how abortion and poverty are intertwined.

6. Pew Research Center – Demographics of Social Media. Facebook dominates everything. Other good insights here, too.

7. What Now for Evangelicalism’s Public Witness on Marriage and Sexuality? Summary of an important panel discussion, including insights from Vince Bacote and Richard Mouw.
