Kindle Deal: Death by Living: Life is Meant to Be Spent by N. D. Wilson. $1.99.

Seven of the best articles I came across this week:

1. Alistair Begg – Preachers are Servants, Not Celebrities. What Alistair Begg learned from the ministry of Charles Spurgeon.

2. Sarah Pulliam Bailey – How the Mom Internet Became a Spotless, Sponsored Void. What happened to the mom blog, and why?

3. Robert Tracinski – “Groundhog Day” at 25. Why has this film remained so popular? Because it offers a profound message about virtue.

4. Andrée Seu Peterson – This Time Next Year. A good reminder that we are becoming different people.

5. Big news in the SBC this week. J.D. Greear will be nominated for president in Dallas. He and Steve Gaines (current SBC president) commented on their unity in this announcement, and J.D. has laid out a vision for the future. Ken Hemphill announced later this week that he is running for the presidency also (see here).

6. T. A Frank – Welcome to the Golden Age of Conservative Magazines. As a subscriber to a couple of these (Weekly Standard and National Review, which are good reads even when I disagree), I agree with this: President Trump has scrambled the very meaning of conservatism. Now, a small group of intellectual magazines matters more than ever.

7. Lindy Lowry – Why There Are No Christian Children in North Korea. The Christian legacy in a closed country.
