Seven of the best articles I came across this week:
1. David Mathis – Corona Cannot Prevail Against Her. This is not a word about being the church in the coronavirus age. This is the church’s age, not a virus’s.
2. Jared C. Wilson – The Lord’s Prayer in a Crisis. Jared Wilson applies what the Lord’s Prayer teaches to our present moment of crisis — “a profoundly helpful and even powerful pledge of submission to God in the midst of painful, uncertain times.”
3. Lesley Stahl – Artificial Intelligence is preserving our ability to converse with holocaust survivors even after they die. This is a really remarkable project.
4. Josh King – 4 Priority Shifts Your Church Must Make During COVID-19. “Church leaders who focus on connections, efficiency, strategy, and relationships will not only weather the storm; they’ll come out on the other end poised to tackle challenges that lie ahead.”
5. Glenna Marshall – I Didn’t Know I Loved You Like This. Man, this reflection got to me. “Oh church, I didn’t know I loved you like this. Perhaps that is the gift of our isolation.”
6. Jay Kim – Analog Church in the Digital Age. As we serve and lead in the local church, we must remember that the goal isn’t selling a product or service but discipling our people.
7. Ivan Mesa, Colin Marshall, Tony Payne – The Decade-Old Ministry Book That Envisioned the Pandemic. There is a ministry leadership book from ten years ago that used a pandemic as an analogy for how we’d have to rethink ministry. Here the authors answer questions about the real-life situation we find ourselves in.
