LifeWay’s Church Assistance Program: Many churches are struggling, but we don’t have to struggle alone. Check out LifeWay’s Church Assistance Package at lifeway.com/churchassistance.

Podcast Pick: This week’s Mere Fidelity featured John Mark Reynolds on the future of Christian higher education. Good food for thought here on education, debt, the great books, etc. And where else will you hear about Trollopian Toryism?

Kindle Deal: Why I Still Believe: A Former Atheist’s Reckoning with the Bad Reputation Christians Give a Good God by Mary Jo Sharp. $3.99.

Seven of the best articles I came across this week:

1. J. D. Greear – Wake Up, Christian. This Is God’s Alarm Clock. “I don’t think the coronavirus marks the end of the world. But this world does have an end, and if we ignore that reality, we are asleep at the wheel.”

2. Mindy Belz – Witnessing in place. Coronavirus lockdowns have radically changed the nature of missions overseas, but cut-off-from-home missionaries say they still have work to do.

3. John McCormack – COVID-19 Is Not the Flu. The coronavirus has killed more Americans in the past month than the seasonal flu kills in one year. (And that was WITH a national lockdown.)

4. Jonathan Leeman – Identity Politics and the Death of Christian Unity. Careful, critical take from Jonathan Leeman on identity politics from the perspective of a biblical view of creation, fall, and redemption, as well as its devolution into an “anti-theology”.

5. Luke Stamps – Redeeming Eastertide. The time-shattering event of Easter is too much to take in only one Sunday. Indeed, there is a sense in which every Sunday is Easter.

6. New York Daily News – 45 years after the Fall of Saigon: Look back at iconic photos of the Vietnam War. Last week marks the 45th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon. Here’s a look back at iconic photos from the Vietnam War.

7. Michael J. Kruger – The De-conversion of Saruman: Five Lessons to Learn. Perhaps one of the most remarkable (and often overlooked) examples of apostasy is Saruman in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.
