The Beginnings of L’Abri (Part 1b)

Jerram Barrs discusses the early history of L’Abri Fellowship, focusing on the vision and efforts of its founders, Francis and Edith Schaeffer, to create a community that combined intellectual inquiry with Christian faith. He highlights the challenges and successes they faced in establishing a place where people could explore deep questions about life and faith in a supportive, communal environment.

Jerram Barrs (MDiv, Covenant Theological Seminary) is the founder and resident scholar of the Francis A. Schaeffer Institute at Covenant Theological Seminary, where he is professor of Christian studies and contemporary culture. He and his wife served on staff with L’Abri Fellowship in England for 18 years. Jerram and his wife, Vicki, have three sons and seven grandchildren.
