It can be a scary thing for me to start a story that doesn’t have an ending yet.

A few years ago, I began sharing about a church in Scotland. This faithful Presbyterian congregation left their liberal denomination over issues of sexuality, knowing they’d end up nameless, friendless, and homeless.

About a decade later, this church—now named Trinity—had a chance to buy an old building from a dying congregation. They loved the witness of the beautiful granite structure in downtown Aberdeen, but it needed a lot of work, and construction costs were skyrocketing after COVID-19 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

When I started this story, I wasn’t sure they’d get the money raised, the repairs made, and the congregation home. We live in a sinful, broken world, and there’s no guarantee you’ll end up where you’re hoping to go.

Last week, I got to publish the rest of the story. (Speaking of the rest of the story, if you’re wondering where Sinclair Ferguson retired to, it’s in there!)

Soli Deo gloria!
