This study is designed both as a textbook in Christian Education courses and as a general resource for all involved in Christian education. In this study, Reed and Prevost move all the way from Education in Ancient Societies and Ancient Christian Education through Christian Education in the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Reformation to The Beginnings of Modern Christian Education and Christian Education in the Twentieth Century. There is also a special chapter on Americans and Christian Education. Specific attention is given to the education of women in each historical epoch and to their role as educators in the history of the Church.
