Andrew Wilson: There’s a lot to learn from places where Christians are being persecuted and suffering that I think there always is as a huge amount, not just that we see humility, but also we see how to cling to God in the face of adversity, how to make disciples how to build strong families, how to love our communities, in spite of the pressures that the surrounding society is putting on us. I think that’s increasingly important in the West that where Christianity is moving, becoming more marginal, to see people for whom Christianity is very marginal, and then see why how do you thrive and make disciples there?
So I think there’s a lot to learn there. Oddly, that may not even be the places where the faith is thriving, in a sense, it may not be the places where Christianity is blowing up, and millions of people are coming to faith. It may be where people are building strong churches and making disciples and serving their communities and loving thy neighbor, even though the faith is very marginal. But I think in many ways, that’s where we probably have most to learn. And there’s a lot of examples of that around particularly in Asia, and perhaps in Europe as well.
